Early Childhood Education

The AA in Early Childhood Education provides a foundation in education for students interested in pursuing a career working with pre-school children.  The program integrates Winnebago cultural components into courses and its core Early Childhood requirements are the same as those adopted by Nebraska State Community Colleges as the Nebraska Academy Early Childhood Core Curriculum.  Course offerings are coordinated with local four-year colleges and universities to ensure transferability and conformity with Nebraska State Teacher Certification requirements.

Upon completion of the Early Childhood Education Associate of Arts students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development stages and the learning models associated with each stage.
  • Create innovative curriculum and classroom management strategies that support a healthy and safe learning environment for all children.
  • Develop instructional practices that support and promote effective school, family and community relationships.
  • Conduct observations, document and assess students’ academic progress, creativity and social and emotional growth.
